Te Aro Mahana playspace

After entertaining Wellingtonians and visitors for many years, the popular playground at Frank Kitts Park has been upgraded. The new Te Aro Mahana play space is a series of interconnected play areas within a maritime and coastal theme. The rejuvenated play space includes a new interactive waka named Whetuu Maarama, created by artist Matthew McIntyre-Wilson (Taranaki, Ngā Māhanga, and Titahi). Te Aro Mahana was completed and opened in February 2024.

Construction is complete and the library fit-out begins.

Construction will be in full swing for Karori, Kilbirnie, Thorndon, Evans Bay and through Berhampore to Newtown.
