The Golden Mile Courtenay Place
One of our city’s busiest areas is getting an upgrade to make it safer, more vibrant, more accessible, and easier to get around.
Wellington Water Projects
We’re upgrading the city’s wastewater network with multiple projects within the central city that will create a more resilient and flexible network with more capacity.
Tākina Convention and Exhibition Centre
Tākina was created to attract international and domestic conferences and exhibitions to Wellington, and to provide a place from which to share the stories of the nation.
Te Ngākau Civic Precinct
We’re rebuilding Te Ngākau Civic Precinct to create a place where culture, arts, democracy, and creativity all come together to form the beating heart of our city.
Te Whare Whakarauika | Wellington Town Hall and Music School
The heritage-listed Te Whare Whakarauika Wellington Town Hall is being extensively strengthened and upgraded, and will soon be part of a new centre of musical excellence.
Thorndon Quay
We’re upgrading Thorndon Quay - a thriving retail district and one of the busiest commuter routes in the city, used by more than 11,000 Wellingtonians every day.
Wellington Waterfront Improvements
We’re upgrading the lighting and edging on the waterfront and have reopened the Frank Kitts Park carpark.
Mākara Peak
Wellington’s award-winning mountain bike park. Developed from 250 hectares of retired farmland, this world-class destination is now home to 45 kilometers of hand-built tracks.
Sustainable Transport
We're growing our sustainable street network, as we continue to make it easier and safer for Wellingtonians to travel by bike, on foot, or on public transport.
Te Aro Mahana playspace at Frank Kitts Park
The new Te Aro Mahana playspace and Whetuu Maarama waka are open for play and discovery at Frank Kitts Park on the waterfront.
Aotea Quay Roundabout
To make it safer to walk, bike, or use public transport along Hutt Road and Thorndon Quay, we’ve built a roundabout on Aotea Quay to redirect freight and ferry traffic onto SH1.
The Green Network
The Green Network Plan ensures that Pōneke has a diverse range of green spaces that bring ecological, social, economic, cultural and public health benefits to the central city.
Te Whare Wai Para Nuku - Moa Point sludge minimisation facility
Our new sludge minimisation facility will reduce the volume of solid waste created during wastewater treatment, saving space in our landfill.
