Wellington City Council is investing in the city’s wastewater network with a major programme of work that will upgrade, renew and reconfigure a portion of the pump station and the rising main network in the central business district.  

The programme involves six projects that will cater for growth, improve network resilience, environmental and health outcomes, and provide extra flexibility in how the system can be managed – now and for future generations. 

Projects Underway 

• Taranaki Street new waste water pump station. 

• Taranaki Street new rising main. 

• Wakefield Street new rising main. 

• Victoria Street and Wakefield St shared rising main renewals. 

• Kent Terrace and Oriental Parade rising main renewal. 

• Renewal of seven existing and aging pump stations across the CBD waste water network.
